There was quite a buzz about what might happen when we rolled the clock from 1999 to 2000 and all the computers failed to work properly. The FreeRoaders decided that if we couldn't get money from the banks or gas from the pumps we might as well all suffer together. So we planned to convene at
Inks Lake State Park near Burnet, Texas.
There was a pretty good turnout for the event. Sharon came from wherever she was a 3 month nurse at the time, Bill and Joann from Minnesota, Annie from Oklahoma, Pat from Louisiana, Bob C from Colorado, JB from wherever, Alice from Austin. Here Sharon and Joann enjoy a visit.
The group does enjoy a good meal out as evidenced by the crowd gathered here for breakfast at one of the local eateries. After breakfast Joann and I enjoyed driving the backroads where we chased down this armadillo.
Lawanda lived nearby in Tow and offered her old woodpile for the event. When we first arrived we caravanned to her house and loaded the truck. She also invited everyone over for a fabulous New Year's Eve party. She provided every kind of food one could imagine. Here Bill, JB Joanne, Alice, Bob C and Bill fill their plates.
One day was spent daytripping to the
LBJ Ranch. We had a great tour on their tourbus that drives through the ranch. On the way back to Inks Lake JB, Lawanda, Joann, Bill, and I stopped in a quaint town for lunch at one of Lawanda's favorite spots. We went our seperate ways after the GTG and it was as if Y2K never even happened!
