It rained heavily to Harrisburg and then the rain ceased for a short while. The town seemed larger than a place with over 50,000 people. It was incorporated in 1791 and became the state capitol in 1812. The land flattened and about Shippensburg I could see blue skies so I eagerly drove south. Near Chambersburg I noticed I was near Gettysburg but was not at the time interested in the Civil War.
I think that guy I had in American History at the U of A took care of that when he tried to have us learn which troops went where on various battlefields. It rained all day as I drove south through Pennsylvania. I passed so many tourist opportunities but I was headed for Maryland.
